We have written a few times about how the siren song of the Virgin Islands draws so many mainlanders down for a slice of the good life. Now here’s a story that bucks the trend: a St. John couple whose essay won them ownership of a quaint B&B in Maine:

In a head-scratching reversal of human migratory patterns, the Adams family will pack up and leave the US Virgin Islands for their first-ever trip to Maine. Oh, and they haven’t seen snow for a decade.

“This is a crazy, crazy, crazy journey,” Prince Adams said by telephone Friday.

On balance, our population is almost certainly growing faster than snowy Maine’s, but this is a nice reminder that every climate has its charms, and that it’s never too late to pack up and begin a new adventure.
