The regatta has come and gone, bringing with it some of the best sailors in the world, as well as a few thousand diehard fans. But who won?

A tie-breaker decided the champion in the highly-competitive one-design Melges 32 class. In the end, it was Puerto Rico’s Sergio Sagramoso’s Lazy Dog that triumphed over fellow islander Luis Juarbe’s SOCA by earning the most first-place finishes.

It was a great weekend for boating all around, and a nice reminder that there is more than one way to cruise the seas around St. Thomas. Many of the boats competing were basically thoroughbreds, built for speed and sculpted like airfoils. It’s beautiful technology, but it’s not for everyone.

Our fleet of St. Thomas rental boats are closer to Clydesdales, decked out for luxury, power, pomp and circumstance. Maybe that’s why so many people call our boats the most enjoyable in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
